My next painting series will be titled, “Dented Can”. The idea comes from a conversation two patients from a mental hospital had one April day in the spring of 2011. 

Patient 1: “What’s up?”

Patient 2: “You like that girl?”

Patient 1: “Who...her? ...Come on man...She’s beautiful...but she’s a dented can. I’ve got enough problems without dating a dented can.” 

“Once that dent shows up, there’s no getting rid of it. At least all the way.”

Patient 2: (Thinks about how the world is full of broken people. Says to himself, under his breath.) “It’s the dents that are beautiful. “
